our first date

was four years ago today. It could be one of the most awkward things I've ever been apart of, but so happy I went.

backtracking a bit a little over four years ago- The Minnesota Twins had just opened Target Field and had held a couple pre-season games at the new stadium.  I had opened my FB one morning and saw photos of a friend and of this guy that was totally my "type".  my friend was an ex-bf to a girl I knew.  I wasn't going to ask her or him anything about this guy, since a few months earlier I had gotten out of a long term relationship, and I wasn't really looking for someone new. I was still mending my heart and trying to train the most un-trainable puppy I had ever met.

I'm not really the type of girl who would ask a guy out or make the first move. I'm fine with waiting for them to call, make the first move, etc. for some reason this was different.

I decided to email "the guy" and say

"hey! I think you're kinda cute. Let me know if you ever want to grab a drink."

I waited for a reply, never got one, so I waited some more. a couple days or week had passed by and the girl I knew emailed me and said he go and look at my ex bf's profile and look for a photo with Ry-guy in it. I clearly knew who she was talking about.  I didn't say anything about emailing him. She told me if I wanted to go out with the three of them in a few days I could. I waited to email her back.  I was so nervous to meet him, because he never replied to my email. I was thinking about dumb I would look/feel if he had read my email and not replied.

A couple days later we met for dinner.  My friend and her ex were talking and we just sat there. We talked somewhat but not much. It was really awkward, because (if you know me well) I HATE awkward silence. After not too much longer finished our dinner and it was time to pay.  The night before I had been out drinking and left my card at the bar. so my friend had offered to pay for mine. Somehow Ry-guy ended up with the my check and paid for me. I had no idea at the time.  At the end of the night we ended up at my car, (while my friend and her ex were chatting) at that time he informed me that he paid for my dinner. I was shocked! I thanked him and they had finished talking so we were ready to leave. I told him it was nice to meet him and he said the same. We never exchanged numbers.

Fast Forward a couple weeks later he messages me on FB and sends a friend request. He asked for my number and we became FB friends. We talked when we could and texted all the time. He worked from 6pm-2am and I was working from 8-4.  We saw each other his days off Sundays and Tuesdays. Not very longer after that we became official. and the rest is history.

he's lucky I've put up with him for four years. all kidding aside I'm so glad to have taken a chance that night and met you. I can't imagine spending the past four years with anyone other than you. thanks for being such a great pbd (puppy baby daddy) to the most untrained (now trained) dog I've ever had.
